CBN (cubic boron nitride) is the second-hardest material after diamond.
CBN is characterized by high hardness, strength, wear resistance, as well as thermal and chemical resistance. These properties exceed those of synthetic diamond and conventional abrasives, such as silicon carbide and aluminum oxide. In particular, CBN’s high thermal stability and chemical resistance make it suitable for sharpening applications where synthetic diamonds are not typically used.
CBN delivers outstanding performance for sharpening any type of steel blade. Thanks to its high durability specifications, CBN can be used dry without lubricant. This makes CBN the cleanest of all available sharpening stones.
CBN sharpening stones consist of a 2 mm-thick CBN backing plate attached to a high-quality aluminum blank. The CBN backing plate contains evenly distributed CBN grains mixed with resin.
