12C27 steel is part of the Sandvik family. It is a high-quality chromium steel that is highly regarded in the knife industry, as it offers excellent wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and high hardness—the key properties that make for an ideal knife steel.
In addition, 12C27 steel sharpens relatively quickly, unlike other high-chromium steels, which take a long time to sharpen due to their durable chromium carbides. Sandvik 12C27 steel is commonly used in the manufacture of hunting knives, pocket knives, fishing knives, outdoor knives, tactical knives, skate blades, and ice augers.
Thanks to its high chromium content, 12C27 steel is resistant to corrosion and rust. Furthermore, since it is made of stainless steel, it is stain-resistant.
