CBN (cubic boron nitride) is the second-hardest material after diamond.
The properties of CBN include high levels of hardness, strength, wear resistance, and thermal and chemical resistance.
These properties exceed those of synthetic diamonds and conventional abrasives, such as silicon carbide and aluminum oxide.
In particular, CBN’s high thermal stability and chemical resistance make it suitable for sharpening in conditions where synthetic diamonds are not typically used.
CBN delivers outstanding performance when sharpening any type of steel blade.
Thanks to its high durability specifications, CBN can be used dry, without lubricant.
This makes CBN the purest of the available sharpening stones.
CBN sharpening stones consist of a 2-mm-thick CBN backing plate attached to a high-quality aluminum base.
The CBN backing plate contains CBN grains evenly dispersed in a resin matrix.
