CBN (cubic boron nitride) is the second-hardest material after diamond.
CBN’s properties include high levels of hardness, strength, wear resistance, and thermal and chemical resistance. These properties exceed those of synthetic diamond and conventional abrasive materials, such as silicon carbide and aluminum oxide. In particular, CBN’s high thermal stability and chemical resistance make it suitable for sharpening in conditions where synthetic diamonds are not typically used.
CBN offers outstanding performance when sharpening any type of steel blade. Thanks to its high resistance specifications, CBN can be used dry, without lubricant. This makes CBN the cleanest of all available sharpening stones.
CBN sharpening stones consist of a 2-mm-thick CBN backing plate mounted on a high-quality aluminum base. The CBN backing plate contains evenly distributed CBN grains bonded with resin.
